Façade Engineer – Malaysia

Key Attributes/Requirements:

  • Strong design and engineering ability and knowledge of ACAD, Microsoft Excel and Word
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in curtain wall and architectural metal works
  • Degree and or master’s in engineering or related discipline
  • Strong engineering design ability, problem-solving and design knowledge of unitised, stick, punched window curtain walling and sliding door, ACP, solid aluminium cladding, canopy, and shop front systems
  • Should have a minimum of 5 years of technical experience working with either a Façade sub-contractor or other consultancy specializing in the design and application of façade systems
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in English at a high level
  • Have a clear understanding of the key Standards and Codes to the relevant line of work

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Team Leader or Project Leader on all technical matters relating to the projects;
  • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare façade engineering design documents
  • Design sections size in accordance with the results of the above
  • Coordinate with C&S Engineer from the project team to understand structural requirements of the building such as inter-storey live load deflection; long-term creep and column shortening
  • Ensuring that the PMU test procedures and the Meinhardt specification reflect the project design criteria
  • Preparing design engineering calculation to evaluate schematic design/concept design drawings in conjunction with Senior Designer and Design Manager
  • Ensuring that new project engineering solutions are “fit for purpose” and in accordance with the local and international engineering codes and practices. Use archived project templates and that details requiring “designs from scratch” are minimised
  • Working closely with Design team to ensure that correct section sizes and fixing details have been designed for the project in accordance with the local codes and best practices
  • Review of contractor façade shop drawings and engineering calculations to determine if the documentation is as per the Meinhardt façade specification and project performance requirements
  • Make sure that all project engineering deliverables are on time and within allocated budget hours
  • Ensure that presentation materials requirement to illustrate engineering solutions are prepared on time and to the highest standards
